Suffering From Misalignment?

Although your BMW provides you with a lot of information on the status of your vehicle, it doesn’t provide too much info in regards to wheel misalignment. In this case, it’s important that you understand the signs of wheel misalignment, as it can help you get in front of a small issue before it becomes a big problem. If you suspect wheel misalignment in your vehicle, make sure you look out for these warning signs!

Uneven Tire Wear

If you suspect wheel misalignment in your BMW, the first thing you should look for is uneven tire wear. Prior to your drive, inspect each wheel of your vehicle and compare the tread with the front and back two tires. Do they match? If so, your vehicle is likely fine. But if you notice that the tire is wearing out closer to the outside or inside edge and it isn’t consistent with the other tires, that’s a sign that your vehicle may be suffering from wheel misalignment!

Pulling

If the steering wheel of your BMW is in a neutral position, it should drive in a straight line barring any inconsistencies found on the road. If you notice your vehicle drifting towards a specific side and you have to fight it to keep it straight, that indicates you’re dealing with pulling and wheel misalignment. You can test this by going to an empty parking lot and, while driving slowly, release the steering wheel in a neutral position. If you notice your vehicle drifting instead of staying straight, that’s the sign your vehicle is suffering from pulling. This is both bothersome and dangerous to deal with, so we recommend a realignment service as soon as possible!
